Laluna Hotel & Resort in Chiang Rai, Thailand
Chat and I stayed at the Laluna hotel and Resort when we went to her home town of Chiang Rai for our wedding. Many of the taxis in Bangkok say "Amazing Thailand" and the Laluna is another great
example of that.
It's on the outskirts of town so it's VERY quiet and peaceful, meticulously maintained and well staffed. We paid $104 US to stay for 3 nights and that included breakfast at the restaurant. We were
assigned a nice sized room with the typically large Thai style bathroom - fully tiled, with Western style toilet and a generous sink area. The floors in the room were nicely finished dark wood, VERY
nice woven cotton robes and slippers were in the closet (I later saw them for sale in Bangkok for about $25 a set - expensive for Thailand) and a nice TV with the usual Thai channels as well as HBO
Asia. There was also a small table and two very comfortably upholstered chairs for in-room dining. The only thing I found (oddly, I thought) missing was a dresser, but we were so involved with the
wedding, that it didn't really matter. The bed was typically "firm" as in hard.
I've posted large pictures and a hi-quality video to help demonstrate both the beauty and serenity of this location. On our previous trip, Chat and I had stayed in the Hotel Wangcome. It was O.K. and
conveniently located in down town, but to be able to stay here for the same price isn't even a choice - it's just the best thing to do!
One of the first Thai phrases I learned was sabai sabai. It's easy - just say "suh-bye suh-bye". It means to be comfortable and relaxed. Sabai sabai truly describes Laluna!
Each of these pictures is about 1 meg in size so that you can see the clear details and the beauty of Laluna.

Nothing like checking your
e-mail to the soothing sounds
of this fountain in the open
air lobby!
Two exterior views of the open air lobby. No windows or locks as it
is staffed 24 hours a day. The staff were very courteous and polite -
typically Thai, but SO NICE compared to the US!
The natural area behind the
lobby.
Looking across the pool to
our room - the door just to the
left of the tree.
The open air lobby - so
relaxing and peaceful!
Three more views of the free form pool. The water was crystal clear and very comfortable. Other guests
laid out to enjoy the mild temperatures and sun, but we didn't have time to.
